At Acres of Grace Farms, we’re passionate about sharing the rich, hands-on experience of farming with the next generation. That’s why we’re excited to offer a specialized farm tour designed specifically for high school students. This immersive visit is not just a field trip – it’s an opportunity for students to step into the boots of a farmer, explore the latest in agricultural technology, and discover the critical role of agriculture in our world.
What to Expect During Your Farm Visit
A Warm Welcome at the Barn Venue Your visit begins with a warm welcome at our barn venue, where students will be introduced to Acres of Grace Farms. Here, they’ll get an overview of our farm’s history, operations, and what they’ll experience during the tour.
Explore the Farm with a Walking Tour and Hayride Students will embark on an informative walking tour and hayride across the farm. As they traverse various fields, they’ll gain insights into our diverse farming practices, from crop production to livestock management.
Step Inside the Farm Shop Next, students will step inside our farm shop to get an up-close look at the machinery that powers modern farming. From combines to tractors and planters, they’ll see it all – and even witness a demonstration of how GPS technology is revolutionizing the way we farm.
Dig into Soil Health and Crop Management In an adjacent field, students will learn about the importance of soil health. They’ll discover how soil samples are taken and analyzed to optimize crop production, and examine different varieties of native and nutritional grasses and crops that thrive on our farm.
Discover Our Event Venue and Agritourism Operations As part of the tour, students will explore our event venue and learn about our thriving agritourism operations. They’ll have the chance to navigate through our corn maze and participate in a fun agricultural scavenger hunt – with a prize awaiting one lucky winner!
Meet the Akaushi Cattle and Learn About Beef Production The adventure continues with a hayride to our Akaushi cattle field. Here, veterinarian and farmer Nick Patterson will introduce students to the genetic advances in Akaushi cattle, explain the science of beef marbling, and showcase different cuts of beef. It’s a rare opportunity to see and learn about these exceptional cattle up close.
Lunch Options Students can enjoy lunch at any time during their visit, with the flexibility to fit it into the schedule as needed. They are welcome to bring their own packed lunches, or, with a 72-hour notice, we can provide a quote for catered lunches to make the day even more convenient.
Pick Your Pumpkin at the Patch No farm visit is complete without a stop at our five-acre pumpkin patch. Students will see firsthand how pumpkins grow and even have the option to pick one to take home for an additional charge based on the size.
